In the health studio

Madame Nina serves thimble-cups

of thick dark coffee

smokes endless fags, Papastratos

numero enna

She talks non-stop

for 30 minutes on no

less than

the aesthetic value of a lady’s

figure to a man

in the ‘subtlest social sense’

At half-past

the witching-hour she flicks

down the light

she waves her arms, twirls

once around the room

& like an aeroplane taking

off, she lifts

her skirts to bare her arse

& says,

‘isn’t it beautiful

dears, really? You know,

I made it with my own hands!’
